Retiring in 2005, I’d been searching to find a direction in which to take my passion for creating. I‘ve experimented with guitar, harmonica, singing, painting,
photography, digital media, woodworking and writing a book (not finished), and the list goes on.
It became clear to me that I simply would not live long enough to achieve the level I was looking for in some of these and have moved on to explore further.
With a passion for travel, and equipped with a digital camera I have settled on artistically mastered digital presentations.
From serious corporate & church presentations to birthdays, weddings, vacation memories and just plain whimsical. I enjoy creating them all. Visit

Woodworking is another pleasurable pastime. I’m often inspired by my artist wife, Becky
Hawley, who sometimes guides me from the ridiculous, to the practical. I
don’t know, maybe we could have used a 50 drawer apothecary cabinet, but the eight Adirondack chairs I made instead do get a lot of use in the yard.
Living on acreage with a view to the east and of Mt. Hood, makes for spectacular
sunrises pictures which provide material for some of my slide shows.
As with the Adirondack chairs, I like to make things from recycled materials. Old
pallets from a local mill made for some fine chairs and tables. Old copper plumbing found a home in our yard as a hand crafted garden gate. With the arrival
of spring and summer I am often armed with new ideas for creating more yard art. There seems to be no shortage of “found junk” lying around just waiting to be
something.
I’m very happy to be a member of the Wy’east Artisans Guild. I am enjoying the close, family like atmosphere. It is inspiring to learn about new art forms from this
very talented and diverse group of artists.

The Multnomah tribe affectionately referred to Mt. Hood as "Wy'east" Its peak, at 11,239 feet, is home to 12 glaciers. From our perspective here at Strohaven, we can view the sun coming up from behind, creating the "Morning Event" as I call it. It goes very well with our morning coffee. To finish the day, the evening sun casts beautiful warm colors on the mountain, often creating spectacular effects. This slide show is a sample of my artistic endeavors. I enjoy documenting family events, vacations and the views from my easy chair. To see more, visit (http://rodandbek.blogspot.com/ ) I always appreciate comments....! Be sure you have your sound turned on.....! These photos were taken from our deck looking east.
